Cancellation policy

Private Qur’ān classes with Al-Qaari Sharif Zain · Academic year 2026 / 2027 · Updated August 2026

Fees are paid in advance

Fees are set for the academic year and paid ahead of the lessons they cover, whether in one payment, two instalments or a monthly standing order. A lesson you cannot attend is therefore already paid for, which is why a cancellation is credited or made up rather than refunded.

Giving notice

Cancel through the student portal, where your next lessons are listed and each one can be cancelled in a couple of clicks. The Shaykh sees it straight away and the lesson is recorded as cancelled by you.

If you cannot reach the portal, contact the office. A message that does not reach anyone before the lesson is not notice.

Lessons you cancel

A lesson cancelled with reasonable notice is credited to the following month, because the month it falls in has already been paid for. The credit is applied when fees for that month are collected; nothing is deducted automatically, and the office will tell you what it comes to.

A lesson cancelled at short notice, or missed without notice, cannot be credited. The time was held for you and cannot be given to anyone else.

Lessons the Shaykh cancels

The Shaykh occasionally has to cancel — travel, illness, or a commitment at the masjid. Those lessons are always made up or credited, whatever the notice, and you will be told which month the credit lands in.

Every cancellation records who made it, because that is what decides whether a lesson is owed to you or by you. It is never assumed.

Repeated cancellation

Places are limited and a held slot cannot be offered to anyone else. Repeated late cancellation, or repeatedly missing lessons without notice, may end a place. The office will raise it with you first.

Term breaks are not cancellations

The breaks published for the academic year — the end of December, Ramaḍān, two weeks in April and the month of August — are outside the 38 weeks of teaching. They are not lessons, so they are neither charged for nor credited.

Ending a place

To give up a place, tell the office. Fees already paid for lessons taught are not refunded; fees paid for lessons not yet taught are returned or carried over, whichever you prefer.

Questions about a cancellation go to the Shaykh’s office. Students can cancel a lesson themselves in the student portal.
